We are an established national firm of chartered accountants and specialist tax advisory practice with over 10 years of experience in advising both UK corporates and individuals on innovative and bespoke tax solutions. Within the wider Qubic network we also provide tax enquiry/investigation and dispute resolution services as well as professional trustee services. The firm’s Directors have a “Big 4” heritage and we currently employ a range of professionals including accountants, solicitors, tax advisers, trust and estate practitioners and former HM Revenue & Customs Tax Inspectors. The firm itself is a Gold accredited Investors in People employer. We have longstanding relationships across the UK with accountancy/tax firms, law firms and financial advisers. We have a focus on exceptional client service and the aim of becoming the UK’s leading tax advisory practice.

We are recruiting a Tax Associate in our Newcastle upon Tyne office who will work as part of a larger tax advisory team and be responsible for the delivery of our tailored tax solutions to their own portfolio of clients (corporates and private high net worth individuals) and both maintaining and developing these client (and associated adviser) relationships thereafter.

Introduction to the role:

As a Tax Associate your role will include:

  • Maintaining and being responsible for your own portfolio of clients in respect of which the firm is engaged to provide tax advisory assistance and as part of the wider tax advisory team
  • Providing advice on a range of tax advisory projects including:
    • Assisting clients with the implementation of any associated arrangements
    • Assisting clients and their advisers with any related compliance requirements from both an accounting and tax perspective
    • Assisting clients and their advisers in dealing with any related enquiries that HM Revenue & Customs may raise
    • Managing client and adviser queries from a technical, practical and commercial perspective
  • Working directly with both Directors and Associate Directors of the firm to deliver the diverse and innovative range of tax solutions that we can offer to clients and their advisers
  • Developing and growing professional relationships with both clients and advisers across the UK through effective and efficient account management
  • Being given the opportunity to develop your skill set (both technically and commercially) to ensure successful career development

Any successful candidate will undertake a detailed and comprehensive internal training programme to ensure they are fully understanding of any tax advisory work being carried out by the firm. In addition, ongoing monitoring and peer review is undertaken in respect of all Tax Associates to make sure they are both confidently and competently fulfilling their role.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be seeking a role in which they can build upon their existing experience gained in a recent tax or accountancy role and be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external contacts
  • The ability to understand and relay complex technical concepts
  • The ability to show initiative and highlight issues as they arise
  • The ability to work both as part of a team and independently (as the circumstances dictate) to ensure both personal and team deadlines are met
  • Self-motivation and a strong personal drive to succeed
  • The ability to deliver excellent client service
  • A strong academic background

We may offer successful candidates the chance to study towards Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) status or similar (subject to relevant qualifications already being held and successful completion of an agreed probationary period and meeting performance objectives thereafter). Further career development opportunities may also be available in the future in terms of progressing to Associate Director status and beyond.
